Maca Powder is naturally sweet so can be used for healthy baking and adding to smoothies to give sweetness without using refined sugars
Organic maca powder comes from Lepidium meyenii (a Peruvian root vegetable). It is related to radish and the raw plant resembles a cross between a radish and a parsnip! In Peru, maca is prepared and consumed in various ways, although traditionally it is always cooked. Ours is ground and as such it can be used as an alternative to traditional flour in many recipes.
Maca powder has an earthy, nutty, butterscotch-like taste. If you add it to your oatmeal it can help to boost your vitamin C, potassium and iron intake. It is also very low in calories.
One of our customers loves to sprinkle the powdered maca on their popcorn, giving it a wonderful, flavoursome kick.
