Our organic pinto beans are harvested when they are at their peak. They are smooth and almost earthy in flavour with an intense nuttiness when cooked.
Pinto beans are in the same family as kidney beans. They are orangey-pink and speckled (pinto is Spanish for speckled), and turn pink when cooked. Soak the dried beans overnight before use.
These beans are a good source of fibre and protein. Often used in Mexican cooking, for example as refried beans, chilli, or burritos. A great addition to salads, and side dishes, they make a delicious bean dip. They are a good companion in a sausage casserole, and make tasty vegan burgers. Pinto beans can also be used as an alternative to, or alongside, haricot beans, for homemade baked beans.
