Flaked almonds are skinless, blanched and sliced. They are high in protein and fibre with a slightly sweet flavour.
Flaked almonds are delicious added directly onto your breakfast cereal. They also work well in salads or cooked recipes, both sweet and savoury. As such they are a great ingredient in your food cupboard. Add to cakes, tarts and tray-bakes, fruit crumbles and bread. They are a classic topping to baked trout and widely used in many curry recipes, like korma and biryani, and lamb tagine.
Flaked almonds are easily roasted to bring out their sweet nutty flavour. Use a small dry frying pan and cook on the hob for just a couple of minutes in small batches, until golden.
