Sesame seeds are a fantastic addition to your store cupboard. They add a wonderful crunch to bakery goods, salads and stir fries.
Sesame seeds are one of the oldest known crops. Farmers have been cultivating the Sesamum indicum plant for over 3000 years. They can be used as a thickener in soups and stews as well as a topping to bread or buns. Amazingly McDonalds buys about 75% of the Mexican crop of sesame seeds every year to be able to scatter them on their burger buns!
We love to sprinkle them over sushi.
