Our red kidney beans have a meaty, slightly sweet flavour. They are often used to add bulk to dishes and they are one of the most common beans used here in the UK.
So-called because of their shape, our organic red kidney beans are an excellent source of plant-based protein.
Our dried kidney beans must be soaked for several hours and then boiled for around 20 minutes to remove toxins naturally contained in the beans. They are then best slow cooked for 1.5 to 2 hours to produce lovely plump, softened beans that will absorb flavours. The soaking/cooking liquid must be discarded before adding the beans to recipes.
Once cooked enjoy them cold in salads or dips. Their mild flavour makes them a fantastic base in all kinds of recipes, from soups and stews to spicy bean burgers and pasta bakes. And not forgetting of course chilli con carne.
