Dried oregano is a delicious addition to many Italian, Greek and French dishes. It is from the mint family and so pairs well with lamb
Oregano is closely related to marjoram. However it is stronger in flavour and has a distinctive scent. It goes particularly well with tomatoes, aubergine and lamb. Oregano is popular in many European cuisines. In Italian dishes it is often sprinkled over pizza, as well as used in pasta sauces. Oregano tastes great in a Greek salad and is used in moussaka recipes. Its also used often in French cookery. It is one of the key herbs in Herbes de Provence. As a stronger flavoured herb, it can lose pungency over time and so replace it frequently to get the best taste in your culinary creations.
