Pecans are related to walnuts and they do look a bit similar. High in mono-saturated oils which give them their fabulous flavours.
Pecans come from hickory trees, mostly grown in Mexica and the USA. They have a rich, sweet flavour and add a fabulous crunch to many dishes. Often found in luxury nut mixes, they are a great source of fibre, protein, potassium, manganese, calcium, and iron!
In the USA they form the essential ingredient in Pecan Pie, a much loved dish, especially for Thanksgiving.
We love to sprinkle a handful into our pasta dishes, add a dollop of gorgonzola from our sister shop, Cheese Etc, and you’re in for a treat!
